Unlike other cosplay competitions, I think UCB is a production-focused competition. The competition regulations also measure the proportion of self-production very high. For that reason, we will focus on evaluating the production skills of those who produce themselves and how faithfully they reflect the original work in their costume, and we will proceed with the following three points.
Q. When did you start costume play?
I have enjoyed costume play since I was in high school. As an adult, I was a director of the professional costume play team called Team CSL and a team leader for the costume play team called 2AO Design. And I was able to be with the Seoul POPCON team through this connection.
When I was in the team, my main role was in charge of costume photography / video production and operation. When a game company asked me to do a costume request, I recruited a model that matched game character, and worked on creating a costume, photos and videos in a studio or outdoors.
Q. How did you feel when you invited for the member of UCB Organizing Committee?
When I was first invited, I thought it would be fun because it was a kind of event that was not in Korea. I felt that if I could support help in this event, It could be more fun.
Q. What do you plan to focus on when evaluating costumes?
Unlike other cosplay competitions, I think UCB is a production-focused competition. The competition regulations also measure the proportion of self-production very high. For that reason, we will focus on evaluating the production skills of those who produce themselves and how faithfully they reflect the original work in their costume, and we will proceed with the following three points.
First, we will evaluate the quality of the costumes and props. Since it's a production, I think the quality of the finished outfits and props is the most important, so I'm going to focus on those parts.
Second, we will evaluate how faithfully they expressed the characters. In the case of images and makeup, there will be people who faithfully reflect the character, and there will be people who put on makeup that suits them, and we will focus on those parts by comparing them with the character.
Lastly, the point of evaluation is related to the performance of the stage performance. When you come on stage, we will focus on how colorful you can express this cosplay you produced.
Q. Leave the supportive message for the UCB participants.
As I said, it is a competition that has a high proportion of self-production, which is a little different from other competitions, so it is expected that many people who are proud of production will participate. I hope you can show off your skills as much as you want. We're looking forward to seeing great works, so we'll cheer for you and do our best to give you exciting experiences.
Q. Leave the message for the Seoul POPCON followers.
Hello, Seoul POPCON followers. There weren't many offline events because of COVID-19, but Seoul POPCON will be held this time, so please come and enjoy it. We'll prepare well for the cosplay competition, so we'd appreciate it if you enjoyed it with us.
